The Diamond Mine debuted and sent shockwaves through NXT when Roderick Strong returned in shocking fashion to decimate Kushida after his instant classic against Kyle O’Reilly. On the other hand, Adam Cole defeated Carmelo Hayes, the main contenders for the NXT women’s tag team titles went to war and more.

Adam Cole initially insisted on deciding not to face anyone as no one in NXT is “on his level”, but Carmelo Hayes quickly changed his mind with a challenge and a slap to the face. Although Cole controlled much of the action, Hayes recovered late with a furious rally until the former NXT champion attacked him with a superkick and the Panama Sunrise for victory.

Johnny Gargano recalled how NXT prospered under him as champion years ago, suggesting that the black and gold brand should return to those happy times, particularly after Karrion Kross appeared at NXT TakeOver: In Your House. Pete Dunne disagreed, arguing that he should be next in line for an NXT title shot. Although Gargano and Austin Theory decided that discretion was the best part of value in the new era of NXT, Dunne gave Theory a parting gift by opening his fingers.

The Genius of the Sky returned to action in the ring for the first time since NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver over two months ago, and it was immediately apparent that he hadn’t missed a beat. Aliyah & Jessi Kamea outwitted the less experienced duo of Shirai & Zoey Stark until Shirai took over, leaving Kamea away with a perfect moonsault.

The encore was as forceful as the premiere of Franky Monet, who impressed once again in his second match on NXT. Monet took care of business against Elektra López, planting her with her own version of a Glam Slam to stay undefeated.

Ever-Rise’s bid for revenge on Hit Row missed the mark as Top Dolla and Ashante “Thee” Adonis were absolutely dominant, putting Matt Martel away with a devastating double team powerbomb in a neck breaker.

Kyle O Reilly def. NXT Cruiserweight Champion Kushida in Non-Title Match; Diamond mine attacked Kushida

The dream match lived up to the hype, as both competitors gave the audience an expert display of counterattacks, reversals, and blunt punches, as well as a devastating hammerlock bridge suplex on Kushida’s apron.

Kyle O’Reilly appeared to be in dire straits when NXT’s resident Time Splitter applied the Hoverboard Lock, only for O’Reilly to masterfully transition into a roll-up for victory, leaving Kushida in disbelief.

The two Superstars traded respect until Adam Cole stunned O’Reilly, and the bitter rivals fought throughout the Capitol Wrestling Center with two weeks remaining before their showdown at NXT Great American Bash.

Meanwhile, a hooded figure struck the ring and decimated Kushida, then revealed himself as Roderick Strong, whom the NXT Universe has not seen in months. Accompanied by Tyler Rust, Malcolm Bivens, and another man, it was clear that The Diamond Mine had finally made it to NXT.
